We desire for life to be black and white. We want people and objects to fit neatly into our concocted categories. Situations should be easy to determine the correct course of action that needs to be taken.
That is not the world in which we live. You don’t need me to tell you this fact of life.
Most of life is lived in the gray. We live in the in-between. Objects and people rarely perfectly fit our preconceived categories. The situations we face hardly ever make it clear which is “the perfect will of God” as church people will say.
We live in the gray. Life is not black and white. We cannot force it to be unless we blatantly ignore facts. Choosing to see what we want to see and forcing something to be what it was never intended to be.
The gray. Is it good or bad? Is it right or wrong? Is it correct or incorrect? Or are these the wrong questions to be asking?
For example take a black and white photograph. The contrast of black and white might initially catch your attention but the detail that holds your attention lies in the gray.
So is the gray good or bad? Is it right or wrong? Is it correct or incorrect? Or is it contributing to a bigger picture we must take a step back to see?
