Fight Preparation

Painful. Strenuous. Frustrating.

I could go on. Looking back on my high school wrestling career, these are a few of the words I would use to describe practices.

I hated them. I despised practicing, but winning, winning replaced all of the hate.

To have my hand held high in victory after a match was the goal.

Knowing I had done everything in my power to prepare for that battle and come out the victor gave me fuel to make it through the next set of practices.

Practices were designed to wear the wrestler down until they did not want to go anymore, and then the real work would begin after they were soaked in sweat and running on fumes.

I prepared for every single match.

Looking back, a majority of the time I should have worked harder to be more prepared for the coming wrestling match.

I can say the same about my battle with porn.

There are countless times that I wish I had prepared more for the battle I knew I was going to shortly face.

Like any fighter, I knew my opponent.

I knew my opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. I knew my opponent’s attack strategy. I knew exactly how to defeat my opponent.

So why did I get my butt handed to me time after time?

I lacked the mentality, the desire to truly want to change.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I hated what I was doing but let’s admit porn is alluring.

Porn is seductive and I knew this going into the battle each and every time.

Yet, I still failed to prepare my mind, my thoughts, and my desires.

Without preparing for all aspects as a fight, there is an extremely high chance your hand will not be the one raised at the end of the fight.
