I sat there, terrified.
Terrified of what I truly deserved.
I deserved death. No, I deserved damnation.
“What did you do?” Might be a question running through your head.
I screwed up. I blew it. I sinned.
In today’s culture we don’t like the word “sin.” We say “I made a mistake” or “I dropped the ball.” We prefer to pass the blame onto someone or something else. Often times, I use these exact phrases when talking about my sin.
When admitting my failures to a trusted truth teller, I find myself telling them “man, I just messed up the other day.” The fact of the matter is I should be saying “I sinned, bro I deserve death. I should not have talked to my wife like I did.”
So as I sat there in Church listening to my pastor finish his message, it hit me like a ton of bricks, the sin in my life rightly justified me going to Hell. I was destined from the very first sin ever committed for Hell.
That is the truth brother. Until we realize the drastically desperate situation we are in because of our sin; the sin we willing commit.
We will never understand the depths of God’s love for us in sending His Son to be the willing Sacrifice to wash away all our sins.
Sin is the worst experience man has ever lived through, look around you at the world we live in today, it won’t take you long to see the destruction sin leaves behind.
It’s time we own up to our sins, it’s time we realize what sin truly does in everyone’s life.
Sin separates us from God.
We are DEAD in sin, apart from God.
There is only one way to raise us from the dead, only one way to bring us back to God. That way is Jesus Christ. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
