Have you noticed how many of us have “Christian” or “God’s #1” in our bio’s on social media?
We all claim to love Jesus.
However, when scrolling through our posts it is only partying, using profanity, gossiping and the list continues.
Our actions don’t line up with what we claim to believe.
“For I do not understand whatI do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”-Romans 7:15
Maybe that’s you?
Welcome to the club.
We all sin but our culture today treats sin as insignificant.
Even as Christians. We don’t fully grasp the horror that is sin. Yes, that little white lie we tell is sin and it is still repulsive to God.
All sin separates us from the Creator.
There is only one way back to restoring that relationship.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23
Being a Christian is not about following rules. It’s a relationship with God.
Think about that just a second longer.
You and I are able to have a real relationship with The Creator of the Universe.
The Being who spoke the stars into existence, who shaped us out of the dirt and breathed his life into us.
The only reason that this relationship is possible is through the blood of Jesus. He conquered sin and death by sacrificing himself on the cross and being raised to life by the Father.
Giving us the opportunity to begin a relationship with Him.
Yet, we act as though a relationship with God is just another thing we do, it’s just one small part about me to list in my bio.
The Bible describes our relationship with God as a marriage. A marriage takes effort, tremendous amounts of effort on both sides.
The good news is God has already done the heaviest lifting. He has done what we could never do, providing a way back to life, a way back to Him.
That doesn’t mean there is nothing left for us. We must contribute to the relationship.
“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” – James 2.
We have a part to play in the beautiful story of humanity. Our choices do matter.
Are you making the right decisions?
